Good texts.
Good standing.

Content02

What a restaurant
text may say.

Carriers block entire categories of content on standard messaging routes, and some need special handling even when it's a normal part of restaurant life.

α
Always fine
  • Welcomes, thank-yous, and reward-progress updates.
  • New dishes, seasonal menus, hours changes, events.
  • “We miss you” notes and comeback offers.
β
Never allowed
  • Content prohibited on carrier networks: sexual content, hate speech, anything promoting violence or illegal activity.
  • Cannabis, CBD, kratom, tobacco, vaping, or firearms content.
  • Gambling, sweepstakes without terms, loans, or crypto promotions.
  • Anything deceptive — fake urgency, misleading offers, impersonation.
AlcoholHappy-hour and drink promotions are restricted content on US carrier networks: they require verified age-gating of recipients, which DineSights does not currently provide. Until it does, keep alcohol out of your texts — promote the food, and let the bar sell itself on-site.
  • Identify yourself. Every promotional text names your restaurant. Diners should never have to guess who’s texting.
  • Honest menus, honest offers. Prices and dishes in texts and on your menu must match what you actually serve. An advertised offer must be honored as written.
Sending03

When & how
often.

Frequency and timing rules protect your deliverability as much as your diners' patience.

i.

Respect quiet hours.

Applicable rules vary by recipient location. As a platform rule, send only between 10am and 8pm in the restaurant’s local time, and use a narrower window where local law requires it.

ii.

Keep frequency low.

DineSights is built for occasional, personal notes — not blasts. Send volume is rate-limited platform-wide, and a good rhythm is a few messages per month at most.

iii.

Make leaving easy.

Opt-out instructions accompany your texts, and STOP is honored automatically. Never make a diner feel trapped — a clean list of people who want your texts beats a big list that resents them.

iv.

One relationship per number.

Use DineSights to talk to your own diners about your own restaurant. Don’t promote third-party businesses, affiliates, or anything unrelated to your restaurant.

Platform integrity04

Don’t bend
the machine.

A short list of things that get accounts suspended regardless of messaging.

  • No fabricating visits, scans, diners, or reward progress — yours or anyone else’s.
  • No scraping, probing, reverse-engineering, or interfering with the service, and no attempting to access another restaurant’s data.
  • No sharing owner login access with people who shouldn’t have full control of your restaurant’s data.
  • No using DineSights for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of the Terms of Service.
Ready when you are

Unsure if a message is okay?

Send us the draft before you send it to diners. We'd rather spend five minutes reviewing than see your number get filtered.
